Windows NT Install





This page will provide you a pictorial step by step procedure to install NT Windows.  Please ensure that your hardware you are using meets the requirementsof installing Microsoft Windows NT.


In order to install Windows NT, you must ensure that you are able to boot from the CD and that the first device to boot is the CD/DVD drive.  You can do this by going into the BIOS and setting the config there under heading "Boot".  Some of the newer computers have "hot keys" so that upon starting your computer, you can hit one of the "F1 - F12" keys and it will provide you with a boot menu, so you could then select which device you would like to boot from.



Minimum System Requirements To Install Microsoft Windows NT:


  • 133 MHz or more Pentium microprocessor (or equivalent). Windows NT supports up to two processors on a single computer.
  • 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM recommended minimum. 32 MB of RAM is the minimum supported. 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM is the maximum.
  • A 2 GB hard disk that has 650 MB of free space. If you are installing over a network, more free hard disk space is required.
  • VGA or higher-resolution monitor.
  • Keyboard.
  • Mouse or compatible pointing device (optional).

 Installation Procedure For Microsoft Windows NT:



Below are the steps to install Windows NT.  Now you too can have this operating system installed the correct way by foullowing our easy guide. Ensure that your system is able to boot from the CD.    

Press any key to start the installation of Win NT 4.

Type in the size desired for the hard drive. Press "ENTER" to continue the installation

It is better to select NTFS as the file system. Why? It provides security for your files.

You can opt for no password or enter in a password now. Press "NEXT" to continue the installation

It is recommended that you create an emergency Disk. For this, you will require to have a 3.5 diskette that is preformatted and not carrying any sensitive data. Press "NEXT" to continue the installation

Keep the default or Enter WORKGROUP and the WORKGROUP domain. Press "NEXT" to continue the installation

Press the RESTART button to proceed with the completion of the installtion of NT.

Type in your Administrative password, if you have one. It is the one you entered in during the installation.

You now have installed Windows NT (in this case the Workstation). Enjoy...

Do not forget for this version of Windows, you will require to download service pack 6.
