This page will provide you a pictorial step by step procedure to install Windows ME.  Please ensure that your hardware you are using meets the requirementsof installing Microsoft Windows ME.

Minimum System Requirements To Run Microsoft Windows ME:



  • Pentium 150 Megahertz cpu or better (intel recommended by CompuLayne)
  • 32 megabytes (MB) of RAM or better
  • Minimum 320 MB of free hard disk space
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • 3.5 high density floppy disk drive
  • Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device
  • Sound card
  • Speakers or headphones
  • video adapter and montior which supports VGA or higher resolution

ADVANTAGES OF USING MICROSOFT WINDOWS ME:


  • More pleasing to the eye
  • low system requirements
  • runs well on old machines if all patches are installed
  • Faster to operate
  • Easier to Install 
  • Security implemented on

DISADVANTAGES OF USING MICROSOFT WINDOWS ME:


  • More easy to catch viruses and malware
  • Way unstable and crashes every so often
  • To some it was a rip off as it made no sense to purchase for the turn of the millennium.
  • July 11, 2006 will be the end of support for Windows 98 , Windows 98 SE and Windows ME

 Installation Procedure For Microsoft Windows ME:


In order to install Windows ME, you must ensure that you are able to boot from the CD and that the first device to boot is the CD/DVD drive.  You can do this by going into the BIOS and setting the config there under heading "Boot".  Some of the newer computers have "hot keys" so that upon starting your computer, you can hit one of the "F1 - F12" keys and it will provide you with a boot menu, so you could then select which device you would like to boot from.


Below are the steps to install Windows ME.  Now you too can have this operating system installed the correct way by following our easy guide. Ensure that your system is able to boot from the CD.    

Press any key to start the installation of Win ME.

If you wish to have a startup disk, you can choose to do here.  Make sure it is a blank diskette you are using and ensure that it is preformatted.
