This page will explain how to change a user's password for various Microsoft Windows stations.  However,  if you have not read about how to choose a user password, please read that now before proceeding.  





Windows 7:

The Geeky IT Way:

  • Right - Click on 'Computer'.
  • Click on 'Manage'
  • Click on the '+' sign for "Local Users and Groups"
  • Click on 'Users"
  • In the middle of the screen, you should see the users listed.  Right click on the user you would like to modify the password for and select "Set Password...".
  • Click on Proceed.
  • Type in the NEW password twice and then click on the OK button.
  • Click on 'OK".

Done.


The Easy Way (changes the user password currently logged on):
  • Press "Crtl + Alt + Delete"  keys on your keyboard,
  • Click on "Change a password..."
  • Type in the old password
  • Type in the NEW Password twice. (once in the new password field and in the confirmation field).

Done.  




Windows Vista:






Windows XP:
